Welcome there, new readers.

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

My site has recently made it’s way onto Apartment Therapy’s list of friends, so if you’re here because of that, I’d like to say hello, grab a cup of coffee, and hang out.

A minor annoyance: Amazon associates does not like Wordpress, so many many of my posts with AA stuff has come out funky. When I get a chance tonight (yes, I’m going to spend my Friday night blogging and watching Lost DVDs) then I’m going to try and fix it.

Into the Vietnamese Kitchen: Treasured Foodways, Modern Flavors

If you know me, you know I love to cook. My mom has cooked for years professionally and at home, and it was only when I went to college that I recognized how wonderful my native cuisine is. Vietnamese food is light and fresh. I’s filling and complex. Much like yours truly.I delight in buying Vietnamese cookbooks, although I know how to make many things, it’s always nice to see how other people do it. I can only make my big bowl of pho better, right?

Check out the newest cookbook on my wish list: Into the Vietnamese Kitchen ($23). It’s written by someone who’s past resembles mine. Andrea Nguyen’s mother was the same way: food is a way of life and it trickled down and now Andrea has taken her mother’s recipes and put them in a book.

9-24 shoes.jpg

Lately, I’ve had an obsession with red patent leather flats. Red is the in glam color for the season, and I like hte ppe-toe flat look. My favorites are from Steve Madden, but I went the el cheapo route and got mine from this ebay seller.

Stamp-lover!
19. September 2006

I don’t send out snail-mail often, but I get a thrill out of picking stamps. Not sure why, but I do. The Post office has some nifty stamps out this year, and my favorites are the favorite children’s books stamps. One of the stamps has Alexander and the Wind-Up Mouse from Alexander and the Wind-up Mouse, one of my favorite book as a kid.

an airplant. I caught a posting on Shelterrific about them, and fell in love. They only need an hour of soaking a week, and they’re plain adorable. I got one to start, and might jsut fill a terrarium with them soon!

Update on…

oil cleansing.

It is either my Midwestern skin freaking out in California weather, or oil cleansing is not for me. I typically have good skin, but I just broke out after a while after a few weeks of this. It’s back to “>Cetaphil, so I can clear things up.

Sometimes, that is what is in my kitchen. I love to cook, I do, but I work a lot. I go out a fair bit, so it makes it hard to really, really stock my kitchen. That and my kitchen is quite small.

Anyway, Snacksby is a new site that is much like those little bartend with the leftover liquor from that last party you threw Web sites. It’s lacking some recipes right now, but I have faith that it’ll get better. Check it out.

oh. my. god.

I cannot express to you how ridiculous the new Survivor is. I never liked the show, but I dealt with its popularity. And now? They’re turning Survivor into a race war. This will NOT end up well.
