03-30 chopsticks.jpg

In China, 25 million trees are cut down each year for chopsticks. Yup. This chopsticks that never quite snap apart right when you get your Chinese food. The ones that are trying to teach you to use them, yet you fail.

Instead of wasting all those trees, perhaps you should grab these travel chopsticks. ($15)

It’s often said that Pottery Barn Teen is better, design-wise than the normal Pottery Barn. Crate & Barrel has Land of Nod . Is it better design-wise? Well, no. Most of the stuff is very kid-oriented, though cute for that. I did happen to spy adult-friendly curtains . ($29-39)

Wanna-be Gourmet: Salmon stew
30. March 2007

0330salmon.jpg

Elise over at Simply Recipes posted the wondrous looking salmon stew the other day. I had to try it. It’s a version of a Moqueca, a type of fish stew. It was an amazingly simply recipe, with veggies I always keep around — onions, tomatoes and bell peppers. I imagine you can whip up plenty of variations of this stew with different veggies and fishes.

It did not take long at all to make and true to what Elise said, the stew only got better with age. It’s a light meal that keeps you full for hours.

Find the recipe here .

03-25 yoga today.jpg

I keep saying I’ll join the gym. There’s only one gym in town and they charge outrageous rates. Plus, a majority of my co-workers go there. While that is a bonus in some respects, the gym has always been a sacred place for me. My brother was a personal trainer and a bodybuilder. He introduced me to weightlifting and it made me very, very fit during college.

After college, the gym wasn’t free it was a cost. I got a bunch of tapes, Turbo Jam to be specific. I loved it, but my interest faded. Yoga became my savior. But since I moved to California, the commute has killed any energy for working out. Thank goodness I’m more active in general here.

The other day I found Yoga Today. A video podcast with new classes every day. I did the Core Stabilizer episode today and it was fantastic. Hard, but good. They’re all free, so check them out.

Sir, yes sir.
