5-29 baking soda.jpgRemember when I was talking about how I clean with vinegar?

Well, also in my arsenal is baking soda. Really between the two and maybe some borax or Dr. Bronners, you don’t need much more.

I usually just use baking soda as an additive to my cleaning spray or use it to clean the drain, but I’ve started scrubbing with it.

To scrub, all you need is to mix a teeny tiny bit of water with it, enough to make a paste. I spent a hour or so scrubbing all my pots to a shine, and then my tub. It’s great at soap scum and you don’t have to feel guilty about sending it down the drain.

The mix is about 3 parts baking soda to one part water. Go ahead and use you hands to scrub if you want, it’s a natural exfoliator, so you’ll come out all soft to boot.

You can also scrub fruits and veggies with it.

According to the Arm & Hammer folks, there’s a shaker bottle as well as the classic box. I need to go find that now.

music: download this jon foreman song
30. May 2008

5-28 jon forman

I don’t post too often about music, but I used to be the arts and entertainment editor of my college paper. So basically, that makes me an expert, right?

Jon Foreman is the frontman for Switchfoot, which I’m actually not that big of a fan of. However, he’s released two EPs on his own, which are much more to my folk-rock-indie leanings.

I’ve even for a mp3 for you to download and listen to. You might recognize the sing, “The Cure for Pain” if you’re a Grey’s Anatomy fan.

Get the song by right clicking and choosing save link as.

shop it: floral minis
27. May 2008

I’ve been looking for floral miniskirts everywhere.

They’re perfect for summer, and I’d love to pair them with a simple tank or a fun tee. I’m usually not big on prints, but the small floral variety is awfully cute…

I’m hoping I find one in a thrift shop sometime soon, but if not, one of these babies is coming home with me.
