quick link: american apparel doesn’t fit most people

This is an old link, but the gals over at Jezebel tried on a bunch of stuff at AA in January, to prove that it isn’t for real people.

In AA’s defense: I think they’re a great brand for tees and skirts and other wardrobe staples. I doubt that *most* people buy the stuff that the jezzies tried on. I mostly see people buying simple dresses and hoodies.

Welllll….the skirts, on me, fit like those dresses the ladies were trying on. I’m five feet tall and wear a 2 to a 4, depending on the brand, but in AA I not only have to scale up to the gargantuan sizes, I get to experience dressing-room angst at the same time. Nothin’ like trying on an XL skirt and still looking like a jersey-skinned sausage.

Loved the model’s comment on that site…she looked horrible in their clothing even though she’s got the long and lean modelesque body, and she was actually the one who pointed out their skeevy trend of dressing-room curtains that don’t close. Yuck.

I tried to go in there and get the basics, but the rest just made me so pissed off that I’ve decided to find my overpriced boybeaters elsewhere.

No, you’re right Lee Ann. I can wear tee-shirts and the interlock pencil skirt. There are a couple of dresses that look great on me, but the majority of stuff (like all that lame stuff) is meant for serious fashionistas or some body type that doesn’t exist.

I think I get more irritated at places like Express, where things fall apart so quickly you don’t even know if it ever fit.

Some day, store designers will make clothes for regular people….
