6-29 clothespin doll.jpg

My good friend Jenica, who I have known since the 1st grade, when we played police dogs (she swears she never participated) is getting married.

I’m thrilled, because her now-fiance is a fantastic guy, and even withstood my drunken scolding when he made Jenica mad. That is a good man.

I have no idea if this is their cup of tea, but these clothespin dolls are totally adorable. You get two little dolls and some fabric to dress them up with. You get to paint them too!

What to do with them….cake topper? Cute decoration for the head table at the reception?

$30

Get the kit at the Small Object

thanks, abitare.

casulo: a room in a box
28. February 2008

If I had a dinky apartment to furnish, I’d totally get this guy, if he ever went into production.

After Casulo was featured on Treehugger, interest blew up and I think they might produce them soon. I worry about the cost and the actual sturdiness of the materials. I love me some flat pack stuff, but it can be flimsy if done wrong.

Go to Casulo’s site.

project: make your own swiffer
10. December 2007

this is hwat your swiffer will look like

I’ve long been grossed out by the amount of product and waste I use when I Swiffer. It’s just so convenient, I don’t know how to stop (that and I’ve got a Costco-size box to go through).

I’ve told myself that when I’m done with this box I’ll go out and buy one of those method thingies and make my own Swiffer juice, but then today I came across this great idea at Curbly.

Make your own reusable Swiffer.

OK, I can do that. Some old sweatshirts or new fleece and we’re good to go. But can I use it wet?

Go to the project.

mmmm lots of threads

My best friend Tiffany will be a fashion designer someday. I know it. I’ve known her since high school, so I know the extent of her talent.

So help her achieve her dream and get her this pretty box from Artbin ($20) to organize her thread and stuff. Although, she says she wished it had space for serger thread and that you could put the bobbin thread and spool together, so you know what matches.

I have no idea where to get something like that, but it’s a good idea.

Get it.

lust: the fanciest place to put your tools yet.
23. October 2007

10-10-tool.jpg

My tools are in random places anymore. There’s a little plastic box in the crazy closet, where random things go. A couple things are in the junk drawer, like my screwdriver and such. I wish I had a fancy box to put htem in, like this one. OK, it might be a little too fancy, but it’s still awesome. ($198)

Get it.

magnart
06. September 2007

8-28-magnart.jpg

I’ve been a big fan of the 3M wall adhesives for a while. They really don’t damage your walls and the hooks are pretty sturdy. I like the idea of not putting so many holes in my walls.

Today, I ran across the Magnart. Apparently it’s been out for a while, but I’m new to it, so I’m assuming someone else is. It’s basically a metal backing with a really really strong magnet. This would be so useful to me as I constantly have pieces of paper and inspiration floating around my desk with no where to put them.

Check it out.
