6-17 band-aid rug

This rug makes me laugh. It might bandage some very sad spots in my vintage wood floors.

Like how they’re old but I call them vintage to make it sound better?

recycled tee-shirt rug
01. August 2008

7-16 tee shirt rug.jpg

There are a lot of tee-shirts in this rug. Over 70, to be a little more exact.

The shirts are then dyed with coffee (decaf, they’re trying to cut down on the addiction) and then sewn together.

I love the idea of walking on a big pile of tee-shirts. I wish it were all warm like they came from the dryer….

Also available in gray, black, red, yellow and white. 5′ x 8′.

$375

home: suede doorstop
10. July 2008

7-1 doorstop.jpg

My doors stay open by themselves, but I could find a reason to have a doorstop for this gorgeous little suede beauty.

It’s made out of fancy Italian suede and has this cool leather loop so you can tote it around.

I like how it is simple, slouchy and well-made. Everyday items like doorstops should be beautiful, too. They’re sent from the UK empty, so you can fill it with sand or whatever you got laying around.

Measures 12cm wide x 13cm deep x approx 17cm high

$40

project: make your own swiffer
10. December 2007

this is hwat your swiffer will look like

I’ve long been grossed out by the amount of product and waste I use when I Swiffer. It’s just so convenient, I don’t know how to stop (that and I’ve got a Costco-size box to go through).

I’ve told myself that when I’m done with this box I’ll go out and buy one of those method thingies and make my own Swiffer juice, but then today I came across this great idea at Curbly.

Make your own reusable Swiffer.

OK, I can do that. Some old sweatshirts or new fleece and we’re good to go. But can I use it wet?

potholder rugs from reclaimed fabric

BTC Elements potholder rug

I love potholders. They’re so cute and remind me of grandmothers for some reason. So it would only make sense that I spotted this potholder rug at BTC Elements, which has a decent home section in addition to great green wearables. These rugs are made of reclaimed fabric and come in a ton of great colors. ($75)

flor swatches just got bigger
27. September 2007

9-25-flor-samples.jpg

Flor tells me their sample carpet pieces are now 6 inches. I think that’s bigger than before, but does anyone know for sure? I’m pretty sure Ms. Stewart’s collection was sample-able before, but bigger swatches would be great.

Buy it.
