8-21 letter table.jpg

I’ve got a soft spot for letterpress and other old-school type things. I’ve got some old letter blocks hanging out in my office and I try to pick them up whenever I see them at antique stores.

I had a media law professor in college who had a table made of the old iron letter pieces from a newspaper. Since I don’t have the pieces (or money) to make a such table, this piece from Crate & Barrel is a great option.

I wish the base where white, though…

Love the open storage on this table by Bald Man Mod.

It’s handmade and there are options for the legs. A great place to store some books or trinkets maybe?

The wood is a combination of birch plywood, walnut and maple veneer.

Kinda looks like hot cross buns to me.

It’s quite green, with recycled content everwhere. I think it’d be a good addition to a kid’s room, especially since it comes in a number of colors (35!)

casulo: a room in a box
28. February 2008

If I had a dinky apartment to furnish, I’d totally get this guy, if he ever went into production.

After Casulo was featured on Treehugger, interest blew up and I think they might produce them soon. I worry about the cost and the actual sturdiness of the materials. I love me some flat pack stuff, but it can be flimsy if done wrong.

Go to Casulo’s site.

green culture: a new green shopping option

Green Culture site

I’m constantly surprised by the number of sites out lately that make green shopping easier. Search engines and what not. GreenCulture is a pretty good representative of these sites. It’s got a lot of furniture ranging styles, so not only the ultra-modern folks are satisfied, but everyone.

Take a look.

(Thanks, Ara!)

april desk from weego home

9-16-april-desk.jpg

I really like the mix of modern and natural with this desk from Weego home. I hate to say it, since rosewood has a bad profile in terms of green, but it always look so beautiful. I’m sure there’s a way to sustainably harvest it. Lots of white porcelain accessories or just silver would look awesome here. 60″L x 32″D x 30″H. ($2500)

PS through Oct. 7, you can get 20% special order furniture with sale code weego091307.

leah desk from pottery barn

7-29-vanity.jpg

The Pottery Barn is usually a bit too traditional for me, but I really like some of the new dual-purpose things they have out there right now. The Leah Desk is a favorite. It’s a vanity or a desk, depending on how you use it and you can close everything away with the flip on a compartment. ($369)

Buy it.
