What are we eating?
I haven’t talked a lot about what i do personally on the food front in a while and when my fabulous friend Mark (@standupkid) showed me this movie on the food industry, I thought it was time.
I won’t get on a soapbox here, but as much as I am a foodie, I think that gourmet shouldn’t mean that we’re eating gross stuff. Gourmet to me is fresh, delicious, wholesome food. I rarely, if ever, eat something from a box. If i do, it’s usually mac and cheese, a comfort food that is way too much effort to make for one.
A long time ago, I gave up red meat and dairy for the most part. I do still love a burger now and then, I enjoy bacon, and I eat cheese, cuz cheese replacements suck. But for the most part I avoid those foods because I’ve read about how the big and bad meat and dairy industry rules the world. It’s gross. I also don’t drink soda unless it’s got cane sugar or stevia in it. Corn syrup is gross.
I mean look at your food. Really look at it. Where does it come from? Who make it? How many cows went into that burger? There is no reason you shouldn’t know the answers to this stuff.
It is expensive to eat local and organic, but every step takes. I use the wonderful LOVE Delivery service here in Los Angeles, and I get a heaping box full or organic fruits and veggies every other week. It’s a step. I am going to try to make it out to a Farmer’s Market soon and im’ on a constant hunt for farm-fresh eggs (I know, in LA? but it must exist!)
So just think about it a for a minute before you go make your dinner, that is all.

Yeah, I know. It’s just some cleaner.
But it’s all-natural cleaner in a bottle that was once used for something else. Soda.
That’s pretty cool.

I own a Spun shirt and I’ll attest to it’s quality. My top has yet to fade, stretch or fail in any way.
This top is so cute, it’s like a tee and a sweatshirt mated in the night, and bore this lovely.

I just cleaned my cute polka dot Toms, but I’m a little in love with these tie dye ones. So summer-y….

Eye makeup must be removed every day. That’s a LOT of cotton pads/cotton balls. A lot. And cotton isn’t grown in the most eco-firendly way. So when I decided to green my bathroom, I had the choice of expensive organic cotton or reusable pads.
I had mine custom made on etsy, but I guess the seller has shut down. These identical little pads were made with flannel, just like mine. They work great. I have 15 and change them out every two or so days.
$4.85 for 5 pads.
