sticky clip that isn’t sticky

7-8 clips.jpg

They look magnetic, but they’re actually sticky.

These are the Happeez Clippers, and they’re supposed to be “sticky without being sticky,” meaning they won’t leave gross residue when you hang them up wherever you need to leave notes.

They don’t look like the 3M sticky things that you yank to get off the wall, so I have no idea, except they’re awfully cute and probably worth a try.

waterless car wash (really)
21. July 2008

7-8 waterless car wash.jpg

What is it about washing your car that seems like so much….work? The water, the soap and finding a place to wash it that doesn’t cost and arm-and-a-leg on top of that just seems like too much work. I usually wait for rain.

Except I live in California. It doesn’t rain much these days.

Eco Touch has a great solution to my ails. Their Waterless Car Wash works without water. Just spray, wipe and your car is clean. I think you might have to scrub to get that bird poop out.

It’s made of water, some natural cleaners based from soy and coconut and an organic solvent. A bottle will run you $10 and is good for about 4-8 washes, depending on how big your car is.

site I like: design freebies
15. July 2008

7-14 free design.jpg

Oh man. I love Summer over at Design is Mine. I always feel very akin to bloggers that are my age and have impeccable taste (like me! just kidding).

She just launched this sideblog to Design is Mine. It’s called Free Design and is full of, well, free design. From great desktop wallpaper to little art projects and stationary, there’s great things already in this blog and I’m sure Summer will find more.

Free Design is a side page of my main weblog Design is Mine. It was created because I suddenly realized that somebody had to weed through all the bad freebies on the internet and find the ones that are inspiring, creative, and generally well designed, and that person should be me.

6-24 terrarium.jpg

Here’s a teeeny tiny terrarium (try saying that three times fast) for you. It’s filled with some pretty lichen and moss and has already been growing for awhile, so you’ll be assured that this little guy will be OK under your care.

I like the small size. It’s prefect for some green happiness at your desk.

(The seller can’t ship to California, Washington, Arizona and Florida, but everyone else should jump at this)

$15

home: suede doorstop
10. July 2008

7-1 doorstop.jpg

My doors stay open by themselves, but I could find a reason to have a doorstop for this gorgeous little suede beauty.

It’s made out of fancy Italian suede and has this cool leather loop so you can tote it around.

I like how it is simple, slouchy and well-made. Everyday items like doorstops should be beautiful, too. They’re sent from the UK empty, so you can fill it with sand or whatever you got laying around.

Measures 12cm wide x 13cm deep x approx 17cm high

$40

Love the open storage on this table by Bald Man Mod.

It’s handmade and there are options for the legs. A great place to store some books or trinkets maybe?

The wood is a combination of birch plywood, walnut and maple veneer.

quick link: what to do with old batteries

I have mostly rechargeable batteries, but I still have some normal batteries around. Bad, I know.

I guess I should have been recycling them.
