12-17 lamp project.jpg

I’ve been looking for a pendant lamp for my oh-so dark living room, so I hiked it out to IKEA. Unfortunately, they didn’t have anything I wanted (too simple!) so I grabbed a pendant light fixture and thought I’d figure something out.

Then I stumbled on this gorgeous idea from designsponge. I love it and have a good idea of a tweak. Stay tuned.

See the full instructions for the lamp project.

twist together lamp

twist together lamp

Modular stuff is pretty awesome by my standards. Anything that I can customize to my wavering tastes is pretty good.

I love the twist together lamp. It’ s a bunch of cubes that you twist together to form whatever shape you want. A wall of lamp? OK. A squiggly-lookin’ thing? Got it.

Each set comes with four blocks and you can keep adding more and more sets on to your needs. ($109)

Get it here.

(Thanks Beatriz!)

eco lamps at beklina

In these cute minimal lamps, the wire that brings this little guy electricity is the same wire that’s decorating it so pretty. I love the simple earthy colors and you can knot and loop the wire all you want to change the length of the 5m long cord. ($240)

Get it at beklina.

OK, how can you not love something that does double-duty? I like this trend of surrounding things in glass, not that that’s a good way of explaining it. Glass suspension? Clear storage? Someone make up a name for it quick. ($20)

Buy it.

jackrabbit nightlight
27. September 2007

9-26-nighlight.jpg

Bobby, my nephew, has to sleep with a nightlight. And the nightlight has to be on in the hall too. For my sister, they don’t really mesh with her modern decor. I think I’ll get her this cute jackrabbit nightlight from Elsewheres. It’s got a good glow, but isn’t, you know, a Glade Plug-in. ($46)

Buy it.

owl lamp at give simple

9-11-owl.jpg

I love this little porcelain owl lamp. Owls are kind of over, but I think they’re a cool silhouette and with the crazy animal of the moment rotation in the design world, they’ll be back sooner or later. It’s also pretty small (9 ¾” tall, 6” wide and 8” long) so it’ll fit perfectly into a tiny corner, or in my case, a tiny desk. ($116)

Also, type in DECORAZZI to get a 15% discount on anything at Give Simple.

bird lamp from perch

I’ve been working on my little home office, in an effort to stop paying my local coffee shop billions of dollar a week (OK, more like $25 a week in coffee and snacks), but it’s not quite there yet. I have a lamp from a long time ago, and it works, but it’s kind of ugly.

I should be more budget conscious, but I really, really like this lamp from perch. How bright do you think it is? ($140)

Buy it.

glass tealight holders
28. August 2007

8-24-glass-tealight.jpg

I hate tealight holders that don’t project the light. I have a couple that hold the glow of the tealights more than help it shine, so annoying. These little guys, however, are far from that. ($18)

Buy it.
