blik garden

blik just released a new line of kid’s restik wall decals. I love how they’re not pastel icky kids decals like I’ve seen before. These are whimsical, like illustrations. Plus, you can move them around as your child gets older or just remove them. ($38)

Get it at blik.

The thing I love about blik is that they’re constantly updating their designs. Wall decals are nothing new by this point and they’re all over the place, but blik continually does cool things by teaming up with artists and other companies (hello my favorite, Threadless!). Mel Lim is the latest in these collaborations and I will say that I’m in love with thee paper airplanes. ($35)

etsy: chandelier decal

9-17-chandelier-decal.jpg

I wish I had a chandelier. They’re so retro cool. Too bad they require, you know, a dining room and some electrical skill. I have neither of those. But I can put a wall decal up of a chandelier silhouette. Isn’t that the same thing, kinda? It’ll look just as cool with minimal effort. ($24)

Buy it.

e-glue: french wall decals
12. September 2007

9-12-decal.jpg

I don’t have a ton of info on this company, since I can’t read their site at all (it’s in french) but they were kind enough to send an e-mail my way and I like their little vinyl decals. There’s about 8 million companies out there that do this, but it looks like these are specifically for children’s rooms and they have a cute set of something called my chicky, which looks like little chicks all dressed up. Awwwww. I think, using my extremely rusty french, that they have different kinds of adhesives and (maybe?) some of them are re-useable.

Buy it.

blik is throwing a party and I want to go
13. August 2007

8-8-blik-party.jpg

Do you live in Venice? I wish I did. It’s possibly the only part of LA that is acceptable to me. That is acceptable and semi-realistic on my salary. But I digress. My good friends over at Blik are throwing a party to celebrate their 5th anniversary. I bet they throw good a good party, judging by how cool their graphics are. Yes, you can judge cool-ness through graphic design. Apple, anyone?

If you’re around August 17, you should hit it up, but be sure to RSVP first: rsvp (at) whatisblik (dot) com

Blik from Undoboy
20. June 2007

620blik.jpg

Not everyone is into the wall decal thing, but I think in some cases, they’re totally cool. For instance, the new blik tiles from Malaysian-born artist Undoboy. They’re the restik kind, so you can use them over and over and the colors are definitely outstanding. ($35-65)

Buy it.

Chalkboard wall stickers
24. May 2007

518chalk.jpg

Want some chalkboard, but don’t want to commit to the chalkboard paint? Grab these cool chalkboard stick-ons from Wallies. They come in different colors and can be used just about anywhere and are reusable. They would look great above a desk like in the photo above. A pack of four 9″ by 12″ panels is $17.

What would you do with these?

skaffs art adhesive
11. May 2007

58skaffs.jpg

Honestly, I think I have some issues with art. I like collecting art, but I have severe problems actually framing it. Right now I have at least five pieces of art to frame. It’s just so expensive. Skaffs has a good solution. Not only is the art beautiful, but artists Luke Feldman has a good idea. Why not take the popularity of those wall decals and make art of them? Not just little designs, but a full piece of art. ($85) They’re a limited edition, so get them fast.

Blink, it’s blik!

Blik, and other wall-decal types of things have fascinated me for months. I’ve always been a renter, so painting is usually a no-no, and with the latest digs, I’ve been waiting for my roommate and some helping hands to do the painting with me. Regardless. I checked out Blik’s site the other day and they now have flips ($45), which are double sided and , well, flippable. For the usual Blik stuff, look around their site more, or catch some from Urban Outfitters.($28 and up)
Are they too colorful and whimsical for your down-trodden soul? Mio Culture has some nifty Eco 3D wallpaper. ($28)
