review: honey spa treatment
25. February 2008

I love giving gifts, although most of the time I forget to get the actual gift on time. So companies like GiftTree are probably a good idea. Jennifer wanted me to try the service out, so I’ll be honest here and say that I received this item for free.

this is how my package came to me

This is what my box looked like when I got it.

It’s the Honey Spa Treatment and has lots of goodies. The box came almost right away and was all packaged up.

It’s got a lot of spa-related items with honey in it, like a beeswax candle, honey soap, bath beads and a number of massage and scrubbie things.

I think that if i got this as a gift I’d be pretty happy. The only thing I wanted was maybe a little explanation card with what everything was (not that it wasn’t obvious).

It did come with a card from the sender, however, which I thought was nice. It was right on top of the box and wouldn’t be lost at all.

inside!

So far I’ve used just about everything in the box. The massage bar is pretty nice, and the soap smells lovely. My dad is obsessed with royal jelly, which is part of the soap. The hand towel is made of bamboo, one of my favorite fabrics. It is amazingly soft and stays that way.

All the items fit the theme well and work together. The honey theme is carried out with the products and the spa items all match each other.

I really like the idea and the combination of items makes it worth the price.

If you’re looking for a good gift to get a client of a loved one, I’d head over to GiftTree and see what they have. There’s a lot of different sets for a number of different uses.

Get it at GiftTree.

sephora scent sampler....smells good

Still need to get your man a gift? Rush over to Sephora and grab this scent sampler. Best idea ever.

This is what happens. There are 8 samples and a gift certificate in the pack. You get the pack for your guy, and he tries each and every one and then picks one he wants. He tackes the certificate to Sephora and gets a full size bottle for later. ($50)

Get it.

good gift: awesome keyring

keyring at auto

It looks like a bike lock, but cooler. The thing I love about design is that it can so easily be everyday. Who cares if it’s more than a cheap (or free) keyring? It’s great. ($29)

kiosk gift grab bags
11. December 2007

kiosk makes gift giving easy

Kiosk is my favorite site for random things. They switch from country to country, grabbing those little things that you would find in a supermarket there but would never find at home. Like Kindereggs (they don’t actually have them). But man, why is it no one in the US has Kindereggs?

Anyway, Kiosk has a bunch of grab bags for this holiday season and they’re not the lame kind. They’ll even suggest a bag if you describe your giftees personality to them!

maxine gifts: gift-giving made easy

I love buying gifts for birthdays and such, but sometimes, I’m lazy. Lets face it. I’m lazy. I like to get really cool, handmade stuff as often as I can, but sometimes I forget. Like my mom’s birthday, when even the card was sent three days too late. Sometimes, you just need an emergency backup gift on hand. This is where Maxine gifts comes in hand. Instead of sending my mom a card with a scribbled I love you and a phone call with promises of dinner next time I’m in town, I could have gotten her an awesome gift basket with all sorts of great stuff, found from all over.

The basket above has pretty note cards, a pen, a candle and shower gel. And it looks so cute! ($60)

spicy gifts for V-Day.
06. February 2007

The first of many Valentine’s related gifts. I’d post what I got the Boy, but then he’d probably read it and find out.

If you’re a lazy shopper, check out Spicebox. They have cute crafted boxes with handwritten notes and a whole bunch of cute little themed gifts, like tools for him and pamper box for her. It looks as though prices range from $50 to $80 or so.

Thanks, Hostess with the Mostess.

Gift lists
14. December 2006

12-13 gifts.jpgAmazingly, I’ve finished my holiday shopping. However, I’m sure plenty of people have not. I’m not going to be yet another blog that posts a gift list. So, instead, I’ll post a bunch of them, and you can look at all of them.

Treehugger has green gifts, so you’ll be doing the Earth good.

Chocolate and Zucchini has a list of Kitchen essentials. Even the occasional cook should have all of this stuff.

Shelterrific has gifts for all of the rooms in your house.

Popgadget has the gadgets I only wish I could afford.

Core77 has the best under $77

Gift for REAL adults
26. April 2006

It’s graduation season, and although most grads want moolah, sometimes it’s nice to give something substancial.

4-26 business card.jpg

Levenger makes a nifty business card holder. I’ve always said you know you’re successful when people are actually asking your for your card (not counting Grandma and your unemployed friend Bob). I spotted another nifty one on Popgadget from MoMA. MoMA seems to make the best gifts.

4-26 compass.jpg

Uncommon Goods has a cute wishbone necklace to wish your grad well or the compass necklace, which can help them if they’re a little lost.
