It’s amazing how one person sees a mess and another sees a work of art. That adage “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” is totally true.

Marker stains normally annoy people, but this totally awesome designer saw potential. Just make your design with the bleeding markers, then wash and create something new. Fantastic.

good idea: lifestraw

6-2 lifestraw

Lifestraw is a great idea. He can provide about 15,000 liters of drinking water per family. We take water for granted sometimes. It’s not always clean everywhere and it’s not always free.

They wrote more about it over at Inhabitat. It seems like such a simple, great solution to a huge problem.

Find out more about the Lifestraw project.

Do you want to help? You can donate $15 to the Ft Lauderdale Rotary Club and you can help a family in Tanzania, Malawi and Ghana. They’re working to give 10,000 Lifestraws to the area.

good idea: clothing exchanges

Does your closet look like this? Maybe without the bike? It may be time for a clothing exchange.

Clothing exchanges or Naked Lady parties are a common occurance in my group of friends. We’re all roughly the same size, wit ha few misgivings here and there, so it’s perfect. Every few months, we get together with wine, munchies, or in Sunday’s case, brunch at my house.

We toss all the clothes on the floor, and go for it.

There are few rules for a clothing exchange:

1) You can’t be afraid to get down to your underwear. You’ve got to try it on.

2) Drink lots of wine and have fun

3) Spend at least half the time staring at the clothes and just chatting.

4) Elect one person to take all the leftovers to a charity shop or Goodwill later.

It’s a great way to get some new stuff without spending any cash. I’ve gotten some great stuff that I never would have bought myself, but friends have told me to get. They’re forever after me to wear more hats, so every clothing exchange I end up with at least one, somehow.
