Although I own a Kate Spade purse, I’m not a huge fan. However, I am naturally curious and nosy, so I like looking at other people’s desks, homes, closets and more.

We all make style boo-boos. I did wear bike shorts when I was 10. I succombed to the “tattoo” necklaces” in high school. But we’re professionals now, yes? We’ve graduated, or are close to it, and we need to be classy instead of trashy. I have some issues with the person who wears stirrup pants, but there is one group of people that really bothers me. Bad purses. No, strike that, cliche purses.
Kate Spade, you had your day, but it’s time you stop selling the silly plain bag that’s square with your name as the only decoration. Lilly Pulitzer? Are you there? Paisley is pretty hot, but not on everything, and not mixed with silly florals in girly colors.
We’re going to have in intervention here on Allthatanda. Do you want a bag that is classic, to replace your Kate Spade? The Lolli bag by Reincarnation ($495)is hot. Simple, big enough for all your stuff. Classy means that you dont have to shout to the world that you own a Coach purse. Classy women (think Jackie O here) wear stuff that will last, is well made and is devoid of brandage.
Want a bag that’s fun and cute? Check out my good friends at Etsy. Lala bags has some great florals that don’t overdo it. Shabby Boudoir has a tinge of vintage mixed in with floral. studiostelle has some warm fall colors with fun images. Urban Herilooms has my favorite, a bag with vintage wooden handles, but a modern brown and white floral print. ($85)
Some of these are investments, I know. But if you can carry it from work to dinner with the girls to a hot date, it’s worth it.
Please, save yourself from handbag hell.
