My brother’s stylist/barber/hair-cutter person told him about The Cutting Chair months ago and I’ve had a sticky note on my desk to check them out for awhile.
When I finally got around to it, I was pleasantly surprised.
The Internet is a little lacking on hair. You can find stay haircuts, but not many sites are dedicated to styling the everyday person.
The Cutting Chair takes hair photos of everyday people and models and stars and pretty much everyone. There are also tips and an inside look at popular salons.
Right now the site focuses on Southern California, but that’s not a terrible thing. LA and the surrounding areas have good hair and often lead the way.
The site is just starting out, but definitely keep an eye on it.
Help your hair make the cut (terrible, I know) over at The Cutting Chair

NowDoThis, an amazing, yet ridiculously simple online to do list.
Mygazines. A possibly illegal site with user scanned magazines, many of them from this month. Clip from the ‘zines posted and make an online trove of all the stuff you love.

Oh man. I love Summer over at Design is Mine. I always feel very akin to bloggers that are my age and have impeccable taste (like me! just kidding).
She just launched this sideblog to Design is Mine. It’s called Free Design and is full of, well, free design. From great desktop wallpaper to little art projects and stationary, there’s great things already in this blog and I’m sure Summer will find more.
Free Design is a side page of my main weblog Design is Mine. It was created because I suddenly realized that somebody had to weed through all the bad freebies on the internet and find the ones that are inspiring, creative, and generally well designed, and that person should be me.

I’m not the best person to ask about scents. I tend to just sniff and go with my gut. I could never tell you what the base notes of a perfume are (but ask my friend Amy over at The Scented Life, she’s amazing).
The Scent Map is a great little online tool I found. Just plug in your favorite perfume, or your mom’s and the scent map will find something similar. You can also go more outgoing, fresh and other directions and it will adjust the scent picks.
I’m a Light Blue gal, so the picks they came up with are next on my to try list.

reading: The His Dark Materials Trilogy (The Golden Compass; The Subtle Knife; The Amber Spyglass by
Phillip Pullman. Actually, more like devouring. I love kid’s sci fi books apparently because I’ve been tearing through this like I did with Harry Potter.
watching: Blades of Glory. This movie is one of my favorites lately. Ever since I lost my job, I’ve need a pick me up and what is more smile-inducing than spandex and comedians?
working on: Being a better blogger. I started writing Chic By Nature in addition to IndieStyleFile and I’ve got a super secret project here that you’ll see in the next couple of weeks. It’ll be awesome and very pretty.

obsessed with: ColourLovers. For anyone that has a design fetish, whether you’re actually a designer or not, ColourLovers will entrance you. Look at color palettes, new colors and patterns to your heart’s content.

My dad is a hard guy to shop for. Generally, he’s happy with just a phone call for Father’s Day, but that is just not enough, really. I can’t seem to decide whether he’s a gadget type or a gardener type.
Juliet Shops is a site where the work is done for you. Like Violet, it groups gifts based on his interests. Not sure still? You can take a quiz to find appropriate gifts.

My Design Secrets is a list of resources and articles by interior designer Lorrie Browne. It’s a great place to head if you’re looking to do some shopping for a new piece, but have no idea where to start.
There’s links to all sorts of sites, from the well-known to the never-heard-of, so I’d check it out.

I’ve mentioned the sixtyone before. But let me give this site an salute. I love it.
What is it?
The sixtyone is a music site with a social feel. It’s a great way to find new music.
How does it work?
You press play. That is the simple version.
The more complex version is that you’re given points and you can “bump” a song up the playlist with those points if you like it. The more popular the song gets, the more points you get back and the more points you have to “bump” other songs.
I want to go sign up.
Go to the Sixtyone. You can befriend me if you’d like to. I’m angyl.

Thought I’d throw a post out to direct y’all to my many, many endeavors.
Twitter. I tweet a lot. Follow me.
Indie Style File. The etsy loving side of me has fun here.
Shelterrific. I don’t contribute as often anymore, but you should read it anyway.
Tumblr. Random links and stuff from me. This might be integrated into this site very, very soon.
Etsy. You can see all my favorite etsy shops here.
OK, that’s it for now. I add projects on and off, depending on my free time. But these are all places I’ve committed to and love.
