waffle goodness, comin up

Clutter haters be damned. I like waffles. Lisa likes waffles. We both want to make waffles. IHOP isn’t always tasty and you know who to blame if they go wrong at home.

The deets: According to Chef’s Choice: “With a simple flip of the texture select switch, you can choose either fast bake for crisper waffles with a soft, oven fresh interior, or deep bake for a more uniform texture. This professional, heavy-duty unit offers a “waffle ready” beeper, “baking” and “ready” lights, instant temperature recovery for continuous baking, a non-stick deep channel griddle and an easy-clean overflow channel.

Cost: $50.

Get it.

on colleen’s wishlist: ipod
12. December 2007

ipod, we all need one

You know someone was gonna ask for it. But think of it this way, Colleen is practical. This ain’t no fancy ipod touch or iphone. This is a ipod classic.

The deets: The ipod classic is skinnier than before and just as shiny. I don’t think I need to go into more detail than that. Colleen says her current ipod has been dying after an hour of use, so it’s high time for a new one.

Cost: starting at $249

on sunny’s wishlist: oyin handmade
11. December 2007

sunny says this body stuff rocks

Sunny has extolled the benefits and wonderousness of Oyin Handmade for a while now. I’ve yet to try it, but she swears by it and she’s a gorgeous mama, so I can’t really deny her.

The deets: From Oyin’s site: “Oyin Body Butter Bars are great for all-over lotion application, and serve as luxurious ’spot treatments’ for scars, dry spots, or stretch marks. The 3oz bars are packaged in a handy deodorant container for convenient, hands-free application.”

I’ve heard about body butter bars and these suckers are rich and your skin will thank you a million times. The best part of Oyin to me is it’s handmade and that means a little love is mixed in too.

Cost: $12. For that you can get the other Oyin things Sunny has requested, including the after-bath blended body oil, honey sticks, honey hemp conditioner and honey wash.

Get it.

on wilma’s wishlist: nintendo ds with brain age
10. December 2007

We all need a little brain training as we get older. I’m not even that old and my brain is falling apart some days, it seems.

The deets: This ia bundle pack of a pretty red Nintendo DS with Brain Age 2, which is a set of brain training games. I think studies have shown that brain training is essential as you get older. That’s why those old dudes playing chess in the park are so smart.

Cost: about $200

on carissa’s wishlist: gel pro chef’s mat
07. December 2007

chefpro gel mat

The deets: Carissa says it best:

“I NEED a Gel Pro Chef’s mat. Tile floors + my personal dislike of footwear = sore tootsies! Around the house, I live in socks, so if I am cooking for a long period of time, my feet definitely start to feel it.”

I’ve heard amazing things about these mats. My mom, who is a chef, uses them at work, and I’m pretty sure she’d be screwed without them. They come in a variety of colors to match your decor and your feetsies really want them!

Cost: Starting at $100 for a 20″x 36″ mat

on becca’s wishlist: honda fcx clarity
06. December 2007

Pretty shiny green (but red) Honda

Actually, Becca lives in Northern California, so I don’t think she can get it, but someone can, I’m sure. And hopefully, these super green hydrogen powered suckers will be available all over soon.

The deets: The Honda FCX Clarity is the first hydrogen powered car available on market. It’ll be released to select parts of Southern California in 2008.

What I like about hydrogen is that once it’s readily available, you can drive pretty far on it, as opposed to electric cars. My hesitation with electric is that currently you can only go 60-some miles before needing to charge up. According to Honda, you can go about 270 miles before refueling.

Cost: It’ll only be available to lease, for about $600 a month.

gorillapod at flight 001

I need a tripod. Really bad. Trying to balance my camera on countertops and boxes isn’t working out so much. And the Gorillapod is the deal. It’ll work on a lot of places, as well as a craggy rock. ($25)

Also get free shipping if you spend $50 or more at Flight 001. Use code “gadgets07.”

Get it.

on tiff’s wishlist: sew-lutions box
03. December 2007

mmmm lots of threads

My best friend Tiffany will be a fashion designer someday. I know it. I’ve known her since high school, so I know the extent of her talent.

So help her achieve her dream and get her this pretty box from Artbin ($20) to organize her thread and stuff. Although, she says she wished it had space for serger thread and that you could put the bobbin thread and spool together, so you know what matches.

I have no idea where to get something like that, but it’s a good idea.

Get it.

on josh’s wishlist: skratchin’ nerdery
30. November 2007

Josh wants this thingie that is not shiny, but makes pretty music

Josh DJs. But not DJ as in on the radio, he scratches, or skratches, depending on how cool you feel.

Anyway, most of his gadget purchases revolve round this nerdery and so does his wishlist. He has this nifty software called Serato that lets him scratch better through his comp and this mixer that costs more than anything and everything I own combined.

This pad controller from Akai Professionals is just what he needs. Since I don’t know too much about this stuff, I will let the Akai web site explain it.

“Akai Professional’s MPD24 is the velocity sensitive pad controller for musicians and DJs. Modeled after the landmark MPC series, the MPD24 allows for an extremely expressive and intuitive solution to percussion and rhythm programming.

With 16 MPC-style velocity and pressure sensitive pads, four selectable pad banks for a total of 64 playable pads, six assignable faders and eight assignable, 360o knobs for transmitting MIDI Control Change data, the MPD24 provides unprecedented creative freedom for manipulating sampled material. The MPD24 also features transport controls for interfacing with DAW/sequencing applications. A fully reprogrammable controller, the MPD24 is a malleable and multi-functional tool that fits perfectly within any production or performance environment.”

As for why Josh needs this….thingie?

“Now that serato has implemented midi i could use the mpd-24 to control the software and other software like ableton live.”

I have no idea how much it costs, but this is the link to Akai.

on orin’s wishlist: super mario galaxy
29. November 2007

My friend Orin, who is both a great photographer and video game maker, would like to say that he would like Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii. ($45)
Why?

“because it’s Mario!  and having a Nintendo system without the associated Mario game is weird and wrong.”

So whoever is buying for my dear friend Orin should get him this. He so deserves it. He would also like some new pants, if you got some leftover cash.

Click on the pic above to be taken to Amazon, where the game is cheaper than it is at Best Buy.
